Middle Grades Expectations (Sixth through Eighth)

Most required meeting times for middle school students will be scheduled between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., on Monday through Friday.  Some students, such as middle school students taking courses for high school credit, may be required to participate in courses later in the afternoon. 

Most students and parents can expect two, 45-minute academic sessions per course to be scheduled each week for each middle school student in their household.  Additional services may be required for special education students in accordance with the student’s Individualized Education Plan.

Middle school students will also be required to participate in elective courses.

Attendance will be mandatory, unless excused in compliance with JBD: Absences and Excuses or exempted by the teacher.

Additional opportunities beyond the required minimal participation times may be offered by teachers to provide enrichment or remediation.
