Honor Roll & Year-End Awards for Elementary and Middle Schools

Year-end awards should mirror the nine-weeks Honor Roll  and Principal’s Honor Roll criteria (see below) and will be based upon year-to-date averages calculated during the last four weeks of school.

A. Grades 3-5

Elementary honor roll calculations are only computed in grades 3-5.  Honor roll is not calculated in grades K-2.  Elementary specials (Art, Music, Physical Education, etc.) shall not count toward calculating Honor Roll or Principal’s Honor Roll.

  1. Honor Roll (grades 3-5) shall be awarded when the non-rounded average of all numeric grades is 90 or above.
  2. Principal’s Honor Roll (grades 3-5) shall be awarded when the non-rounded average of all numeric grades is 95 or above.

B. Grades 6-8

Middle school honors calculations include both academic and non-academic courses. Semester-long courses carry half the weight as year-long courses.

  1. Honors (grades 6-8) shall be awarded when the non-rounded average of all numeric grades is 90 or above.
  2. Principal’s Honors (grades 6-8) shall be awarded when the non-rounded average of all numeric grades is 95 or above.
  3. Grades from honors courses taken for high school credit shall receive a five percent bump when calculating the yearly average for honors recognition purposes.
