Board of Education Regular Session is Nov.10

New cohort of REACH Georgia Scholars to be recognized


The Bulloch County Board of Education will host its scheduled regular session on Thursday, November 10, at 6:30 p.m., in the boardroom of the school district's Central Office, located at 150 Williams Road in Statesboro.


Prior to the meeting the Board and the Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education will host a signing ceremony and reception at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively for the school district's new cohort of REACH Georgia Scholars. The five eighth-grade students and their parents will also be recognized during the Board meeting. 


Guests should enter the building's main entrance (A) at the front of the building. The Board meeting is open to the public.

Regular session Board meetings include a time on the agenda for public participation. Guests who wish to speak should arrive prior to 6:30 p.m. to sign in on the provided sheet at the podium.

The community can also send public comments to the Board of Education at any time. This can be done either to Board members' individual email addresses, to the Board's group email, or to the Board's attention via Superintendent of Schools Charles Wilson at 912.212.8500 or to the superintendent's email.

Key topics for the meeting include the following: (1) discussion and a vote on proposed revisions to Board Policy JBD - Absences and Excuses that were placed on the table for review at the Oct. 13 Board meeting. The proposed changes are noted in the Board packet; (2) A request for the Board to vote on an application to the Georgia Department of Education to request site approval for the proposed multi-purpose athletic building at Portal Middle High School that is proposed to be built on existing school district property; and (3) a vote to place on the table for review proposed revisions to Board Policy IEDA Recess/Unstructured Break Time
