One of Bulloch County Schools' strategic goals is to continually improve how we engage our families and community. Family Engagement is crucial to each child throughout his/her pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade experience. Bulloch County Schools encourages parents and guardians to remain actively involved. When you are actively engaged in your child's education and well informed about how to achieve success, it positively affects your child's achievement.
Family Engagement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents, schools, and communities with the goal of educating the whole child to ensure student achievement and success. The research is clear that when schools and families support each other, students of all backgrounds and various abilities achieve at higher levels.
Therefore, our Family Engagement Program and the family engagement coordinators we employ, believe parents, guardians, schools, families, and communities who work together can create meaningful partnerships that ultimately lead to significant gains across the board in student achievement.
Bulloch County Schools is seeking input from the community, parents guardians, and students about the Title I Parent Involvement Plans and Home + School Compacts for each of its elementary and middle schools. This annual review will help develop plans for the 2017-2018 school year. Please submit feedback via email to Georgi Darsey, the district's federal programs director at firstname.lastname@example.org or by contacting a school's family liaison (click link for list of contacts). You can access copies of each school's current Title I documents on a school's website or in a school's Family Resource Room or main office. The review period will end Friday, March 31.
Family Resource Centers
Each of our elementary and middle schools is equipped with a parent resource center. They are open during the school day, and a family engagement coordinator or other school staff member can assist you with the resources you need. The centers offer the following materials: educational manipulatives, educational games, flash cards, workbooks, books to assist your child in reading, math and other content areas, parenting books, and more.
Bulloch County Schools periodically hosts workshops for families. The are designed to provide families with information they can use to help children achieve academic success. These workshops take place in the schools as well as in community centers throughout the county. Check with your school for upcoming family events and workshops.
